Is Sutton a London borough?
The London Borough of Sutton is in south west London. The borough was formed in 1965 by merging the Municipal Boroughs of Sutton and Cheam, and Beddington and Wallington, with Carshalton Urban District, which had previously been part of Surrey.
Is Sutton posh?
As one of London’s most southern areas, Sutton is often dismissed as an insignificant location veering into ‘Surrey’ territory. It seems to be the only borough people north of the river haven’t heard of, despite being sandwiched between Croydon and Kingston. Sutton can offer so much more to Londoners than they realise.
Is Sutton dangerous?
Quiet and subdued, the London Borough of Sutton regularly ranks among the top 5 safest boroughs in the capital, with an average crime rate of 57 per 1000 people as of 2013 – lower than the UK average, and significantly lower than the London average.
What is Sutton famous for?
Sutton is famous for its small district centres, many of them retaining a ‘village’ atmosphere not seen in central London. The Borough is also known for its outstanding green spaces. Sutton boasts 1,500 acres of open space and the largest regional park outside of London, and is a leader in environmental performance.
