Croydon Council’s development company Brick by Brick has secured planning permission for a 25-storey mixed-use scheme that will deliver 128 homes above flexible office, retail and leisure space in Croydon town centre.
The residential-led regeneration scheme of one to three-bedroom homes, 50% of which will be either affordable rent or shared ownership, will be built on the site of the council-owned Wandle Road car park next to the Croydon Flyover. Commercial space on the lower floors will accommodate publicly-accessible facilities such a café and gym. The development also includes provision for 10 disabled car parking spaces, as well as secure storage space for 214 bikes. For the residents, a communal roof garden on the 22nd floor will provide amenity space.
Colm Lacey, chief executive of Brick By Brick, said: “We have worked closely with local residents and stakeholders to develop a scheme which makes best use of the site and responds well to its surroundings. This is a key project in realising our aim of providing well designed and affordable accommodation for households of different sizes and incomes.”
