Boxpark has announced a new run of major events by a massive London promoter in a bid to make the Croydon venue a “major music destination” and a world-famous DJ will be at the launch.
Events at the venue next to East Croydon station are set for a big makeover with organisers pledging to attract top talent. Boxpark has promised shows from the ‘UK’s biggest musicians’ at the new gigs. Internationally renowned DJ David Rodigan will kick-off the brand new music event – which has been christened HotBox – bespoke to Croydon. HotBox will be run by London promoters LWE, behind Printworks and other trendy venues, and Boxpark is hoping to make its name as a must-play for musicians. To start of the new run of HotBox events famed DJ David Rodigan will be performing on April 28. Future events are to be confirmed.
Boxpark manager David Byrne said: “LWE is a highly reputable events company as demonstrated with their success at previous venues. With many large-scale shows already under our belt, we wanted to take our event offerings at Croydon up a notch and help establish the venue as a major music destination. We’re thrilled to bring some more exciting shows to Croydon and can’t wait for the first event.”
Stormzy played a homecoming gig at Boxpark Croydon to launch his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer and Crystal Palace footballers also took over the venue for a Christmas lights switch on event last year.
Paul Jack, Co-Founder of LWE said: “Boxpark Croydon is an amazing event space, and in of one of London’s fastest growing boroughs for culture. Coupled with a rich musical heritage, it makes Boxpark Croydon the perfect place for us to launch our new musical concept Hotbox. We thought who better to do this with than LWE.
